Easy Bill & The Big Beat - "Midnight Creep"

Easy Bill has the big beat down. His originals in a swinging R&B and Chicago Blues style mixed with a little jump blues hold the bar to the big names of the genre, though the enormous vocal prescence of the blues men of the '40s and '50s could not be duplicated by a white singer from Denver. My favorites are the faster numbers, especially the catchy "Shooty Booty" with it's infectious New Orleans R&B groove with boogie woogie piano and roaring saxophone. "Whiskey Drinking Woman" is reminiscent of Jimmy Reed (one of three tracks featuring harmonica) and "Gonna Tell Your Mother" is a strong remake of a Jimmy McCracklin blues rocker. Nice CD.
